Kyrgyz-Uzbek IGC revived work after five-year break

KAZINFORM /Yevgeny Novikov/ Yesterday a governmental delegation of Kyrgyzstan headed by Prime Minister Daniyar Ussenov took part in the seventh session of the intergovernmental committee on bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, the work of which was revived after a five-year break.

The delegations were headed by Daniyar Ussenov and First Deputy Premier - Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov.

The participants considered the issues concerning extension of cooperation in trade-economic, water-energy, humanitarian, research, customs, migration and legal spheres during the session.

It was noted that the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan during 11 months of 2009 has amounted to USD 140 mln that is not sufficient for both countries. Agreements within the program for 2007-2011 approved by the heads of both states in 2006 will provide the development of economic relations.

The representatives of both countries also discussed the issues of operation of entry points at the state boarders pursuant to the international agreements. Besides, the heads of water and energy administrations of both countries reached a number of agreements.
