Kyrgyzstan - China trade turnover reaches almost $11 bln in Jan-Jul 2024

Trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China, founded by President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov and Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, has risen to a high level, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bakyt Torobaev said at the 16th meeting of the intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Chinese commission on trade and economic cooperation in Beijing, Kabar reports.

He noted that according to the Chinese side, in 2023 the volume of trade turnover amounted to USD 20 billion, compared to 2022, the growth was 32%, and in January-July of this year the volume of trade turnover reached almost USD 11 billion.

He also stressed that the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project continues in stages and within the framework of trilateral cooperation. In addition, he recalled the recently opened simplified Bedel checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border. These steps indicate the beginning of a new stage in bilateral cooperation.
