Kyrgyzstan intends to purchase 300,000 t of grain from Kazakhstan
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - In 2014, Kyrgyzstan intends to purchase from Kazakhstan 300 thousand tons of grain, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Aidaraliyev told 24.kg.
According to his words, last year Kyrgyz farmers harvested 800,000 tons of grain. In 2014 grain harvest is expected to be 695 000 tons. Taalaibek Aidaraliyev believes that the food crisis will not occur in Kyrgyzstan. The government will buy grain from Kazakhstan, if necessary. According to official information, Kyrgyzstan purchases from Kazakhstan up to 200 thousand tons of grain annually. Recall that Kazakhstan in 2014-2015 marketing years will export about 8.9 million tons of grain.
