Kyrgyzstan marks State Language Day
A ceremonial event in honor of the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On the State Language of the Kyrgyz Republic" was held in Bishkek, KABAR reported.
The event was organized by the National Commission on State Language and Language Policy under the President, where Suyunbek Kasmambetov read out a congratulatory message from President Sadyr Zhaparov on the State Language Day.
In his congratulation the head of state said the state language is one of the main characteristics of a sovereign state.
“Unlike many languages, the Kyrgyz language is one of the languages that make up the ancient language base. Also, our mother tongue is a great language that has been the core of common Turkic related languages. This is what makes it different from others,” he said.
President Zhaparov also stressed the state language policy is the most important integral part of the state policy.
“Accordingly, in the current era of globalization, we must make an active effort to develop the state language. By expanding the use of the state language with digital technology that embraces all areas of our life, we can improve the quality of education, strengthen inter-ethnic unity, and also strengthen our national values,” the president noted.
Sadyr Zhaparov also called on to preserve the mother tongue, which unites Kyrgyz people under one flag and ensures stability in society, and to develop it as a common national language.
