Kyrgyzstan plans to build plant to produce FMD vaccines

Bishkek hosted on Wednesday a meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev and Chairman of Yangling Jinhai Biotechnology Co., Ltd. Liu Yanlin, Kabar reports. 

The meeting discussed cooperation in agriculture and biotechnology, including the launch of a plant for the production of vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Agriculture Ministry reported.

The project includes full provision of all stages of the production cycle: from growing and fattening of livestock to vaccination and slaughterhouse.

During the discussion, the two sides emphasized the importance of implementing this project to strengthen the country's veterinary security and ensure domestic demand for high-quality vaccines, which will significantly reduce the risks of spreading infectious diseases among farm animals.

Liu Yanlin emphasized the willingness of Yangling Jinhai Biotechnology Co., Ltd. to invest in the construction of the plant, transfer advanced technologies and train local specialists.

For his part, Bakyt Torobaev expressed the interest of Kyrgyzstan in the implementation of the project, noting its strategic importance for the development of the agricultural sector and ensuring food security of the country.

The sides agreed to continue negotiations on specific stages of the project implementation, as well as on the establishment of a working group to coordinate further steps. It is expected that the launch of the plant will contribute to the development of domestic livestock breeding and open new markets for the supply of vaccines to the EAEU countries and neighboring countries.
