Kyrgyzstan to ban vapes and e-cigarettes from 2025
President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Sphere of Protecting Citizens' Health (the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Protecting the Health of Citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic from the Consequences of Consuming Tobacco, Nicotine and Exposure to Second-Hand Tobacco Smoke and Aerosol", the Code of the Kyrgyz Republic on Offenses, the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic)," KABAR reported.
The law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on October 23, 2024.
The purpose of this Law is to ensure the protection of the health and well-being of citizens from the use of electronic cigarettes with nicotine-containing liquid.
The law prohibits the import, circulation and use of electronic cigarettes in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In addition, the Law provides for liability for violating the requirements on the prohibition of the use and sale of electronic cigarettes in accordance with the Code of the Kyrgyz Republic on Offenses.
Thus, a fine of 115 US dollars is imposed for smoking electronic cigarettes, and about 695 dollars for legal entities. The fine for the sale of electronic cigarettes will be 230 dollars for individuals, and 750 dollars for legal entities.
In addition, the import of electronic cigarettes is punishable by correctional labor from two months to one year or a fine of up to 1,390 dollars. At the same time, for the import of electronic cigarettes in large or especially large quantities, a fine of up to 2,300 dollars, or imprisonment for a term of one to two years is provided.
The law comes into force on July 1, 2025
