Kyrgyzstan to hold local council elections in Nov
The local council elections (keneshes) in Kyrgyzstan are set to take place on November 17, 2024, marking a date to circle on the calendar, Trend reports.
According to the country's Cabinet of Ministers, council members will be chosen to sit on 264 local councils, which includes 33 urban councils and 231 rural ones.
The elections will be in the hands of 56 territorial and 2,438 precinct electoral commissions spread across the nation, ensuring everything runs like a well-oiled machine.
As of September 5, 2024, the total number of voters stands at a whopping 4,121,044.
By September 28, 2024, the preliminary voter lists in good old paper form will be making their rounds at 2,438 polling stations, ready to hit the ground running.
The local council election results need to be in the bag by December 8, which is the deadline, coming in hot at no more than 20 calendar days after that big day.
To note, local councils were dissolved, and elections for its members were scheduled according to a presidential decree announced on September 6.
