Kyrgyzstan toughens penalties for raping disabled persons, imposing life sentence
Kyrgyzstan stiffens penalties for sexual crimes against disabled persons, a Kazinform correspondent reports.
The Kyrgyz Parliament passed a bill in the third reading, according to which men who have reached the age of 60 at the time of committing the crime and found guilty of raping persons with disabilities regardless of their gender and age, may be sentenced to life imprisonment.
The document was drafted to ensure protection and defense of rights to sexual inviolability of the persons with disabilities.
On April 15, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a landmark law that criminalizes domestic violence, introduces administrative liability for bullying and cyberbullying of minors, and creates an infrastructure needed to support families, among other important provisions.
