Kazakhstan plans to raise gasification level to 61.8% by the end of the year, Kazinform News Agency learned from the Ministry of Energy.

“In line with the President’s instruction, the Government of Kazakhstan took a decision to allocate additional 105 billion tenge from the reserves of  JSC Samruk-Kazyna for the local executive agencies. These funds will be spent on implementation of 145 gasification projects ,” a press release from the Energy Ministry reads.

The ministry plans to raise gasification level to 61.8% countrywide by the end of 2024. As a result, more than 369,000 people in 140 settlements will get access to gas. As of January 1, 2024, this figure was at 60% or 12 million people.

In 2025, the ministry plans to provide another 55,000 people in 21 settlements with access to gas and increase gasification level to 62.1%.

At the March 15 session of the National Kurultay, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set a task to the Government to modernize 1,700 kilometers of gas pipelines and provide more than 300,000 people with gas by the end of the year.
