KZT1.12trl in assets and cash surrendered to state – Kazakh Anti-Corruption Agency
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan met with chair of the Anti-Corruption Agency Askhat Zhumagali, Kazinform News Agency cites Akorda.
Zhumagali briefed the Kazakh President on the measures the Agency takes to combat corruption, its plans and key tasks for the current year, including the implementation of ‘Law and Order’ principle.
According to him, last year, the Kazakh Anti-Corruption Agency recorded 1,641 corruption-related crimes, revealed 68 cases of systemic corruption as well as detected two organized-crime organizations. 914 were sentences to jail for corruption, out of total 1,493 persons exposed, including 229 senior managers.
As Zhumagali informed, 1.12 trillion tenge in assets and cash has been surrendered to the state, including 486.5 billion tenge last year, since 2022.
As part of a monitoring of public procurements and targeted use of resources, the Agency prevented the misuse of 87.7 billion tenge.
The Kazakh Anti-Corruption Agency chair also spoke about the realization of some instructions given by President Tokayev.
The ‘Money Coloring’ project piloted at Digital tenge platform in certain areas of agriculture and road sectors, set to be expanded with digital coverage of all stages of budgetary funds flow.
President Tokayev was briefed that following an analysis in the health sector, markups on drugs were reduced, having a positive effect in addressing social issues and needs of citizens.
Nationwide, the project to dispense free pharmaceuticals to patients via QR code, reducing the risks of falsified pharmaceuticals and the theft of pharmaceuticals as well as saving budgetary funds, was launched.
Zhumagali also informed about the outcomes of international cooperation, including the signing of memorandums with anti-corruption agencies of Azerbaijan, Russia, Hong Kong, Jorda and Qatar as well as the ongoing work to implement the recommendations from the OECD and GRECO, under which two bills aimed at implementing advanced international practices were submitted to the Majilis.
In conclusion, the Head of State gave a number of instructions to further combat corruption in the country.
Earlier, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had received President of the National Academy of Sciences Akhylbek Kurishbayev.
