Lebanon applies for non-permanent membership in UN Security Council
ASTANA. August 25. KAZINFORM Lebanon is a candidate for non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council. This is in accordance to a contract between the members of the League of Arab States on the rotation of seats in the Security Council every two years, Lebanese Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister Fawzi Salloukh said, Emirate's news agency WAM reported, Kazinform refers to Trend News.
The League of Arab States has supported Lebanon's application, Sallloukh said, expressing his hope for success.
Lebanon is expected to receive non-permanent membership for two years during the 64th UN General Assembly in September.
