ASTANA. December 14. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Legislation must clearly prescribe the regulation of access to information. Head of the OSCE Center in Astana Alexander Keltchewsky made it public at workshop "Advanced experience of countries in the field of legal regulation of access to information" in Astana.

"The legal regulation of the access to information should promote, firstly, public control over the activity of the state bodies, secondly, prevention of abuse of powers and strengthening public confidence in the government, thirdly, more active participation of the population in public life", he said.

He said that legislation should take into account public interest in particular information as well as clearly prescribe all necessary regulation in this field to avoid violation of rights of citizens.
