Legislators approve Rashid Temrezov as Karachai-Cherkessia leader
The new leader of the republic took an oath and the symbols of power.
Temrezov was appointed acting head of Karachai-Cherkessia by presidential decree dated February 26. On the same day, presidential envoy in the North Caucasus Federal District Alexander Khloponin introduced him to the local legislators and the republic's government.
Also on February 26, the president issued a decree accepting the resignation by Karachai-Cherkessia leader Boris Ebzeyev, who was stepping down on his own accord. Ebzeyev had been head of the republic since 2008.
Temrezov, a member of the United Russia party, comes from the presidential human resources reserve. The United Russia leadership suggested that the president put up his candidacy for Karachai-Cherkessia' s leader together with other candidates - the republic's Prime Minister Muradin Kemov and Cherkessk mayor Pyotr Korotchenko.
Rashid Temrezov was born in the town of Cherkessk on March 14, 1976. He graduated from the Moscow open social university, and worked as director of capital construction under the regional government. A year ago, he was appointed director of the department of federal highways in the republic. Rashid Temrezov is a deputy of the parliament of Karachai-Cherkessia. He is married, with three children.
