Level of preparation for Universiade-2017 will increase the chances of Almaty to host Winter Olympics in 2022 – Almaty Akim Yesimov

ALMATY. KAZINFORM - Securing the Winter Universiade -2017 has become one of the key issues at the meeting of Anti-Terrorist Commission under the Almaty city Akimat. The event was held under the chairmanship of the Akim of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yesimov, according to the press service.

"The successful holding of the Universiade - 2017, and primarily, the preparations for the event will greatly enhance our chances to host the Winter Olympics in 2022. We already have some experience in successful conducting of world-class international competitions", said A. Yesimov. It was reported that Almaty sent a bid book to the IOC to host the Olympics in 2022. The Akim also noted that the Universiade - 2017 in Almaty will join five thousand people from more than 50 countries including athletes, fans, staff members, volunteers and guarded officials. Socio-political significance of the event required a systematic and comprehensive solution to the question of safety. "We must take additional measures to ensure safety. It is necessary to create central and object safety control centers in every sporting facility and residential site", said Akhmetzhan Yesimov. The round table also discussed other matters related to the activities of the Anti-Terrorist Commission.
