Lithuania interested in fruitful cooperation with Kazakhstan within OSCE Troika - Audronius Ažubalis
The sides discussed the issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the OSCE, the Presidential press service informs.
"The presidency of Kazakhstan in the OSCE had its historic meaning for the Organization. It is very important that the member countries reconfirmed their commitment to the basic principles of the Organization for the first time over 11 years. Lithuania is going to organize its work on the foundation laid by Kazakhstan," A. Ažubalis noted during the conversation with President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
He also emphasized that Lithuania was interested in productive cooperation with Kazakhstan within the OSCE Troika, especially regarding the problems in Central Asian region.
"While the crisis in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan as the OSCE chairing country acted wisely, quickly and productively playing an important role to stabilize the situation. Your country just demonstrated the effectiveness of the measures that must be taken in such a situation," the OSCE Chairman-in-Office said.
A. Ažubalis pointed out great significance of the OSCE Summit that was held in Astana for the first time after 11 years of downtime.
"We discussed the issues of Kazakhstan's joining the WTO. It is a basic organization that creates conditions for fair business from the point of view of the EU. The most notable achievement of Kazakhstan for 20 years of its independence is dynamic development of the economy. The image of Kazakhstan is constantly rising in the region and in the world as well. It creates all necessary conditions for business and the situation in the country is stable. I also thanked President Nursultan Nazarbayev on behalf of the President of Lithuania for congratulations on Independence Day and an invitation to visit Kazakhstan," A. Ažubalis said at the briefing.
The foreign guest also expressed his admiration for the beauty of the capital of Kazakhstan.
