Livestock exchanges may appear in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstani farmers and heads of the regions led by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin visited one of the largest and state-of-the-art livestock exchanges in Australia, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from the press service of the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry.
Kazakh Vice Minister of Agriculture Amangaliy Berdalin noted that there no such thing as livestock exchange in Kazakhstan and livestock trade is not organized.
“Currently, one of the main problems in terms of development of livestock breeding in Kazakhstan is an abundance of intermediary schemes due to which livestock producers can’t get the price that they want. The livestock exchange lets livestock producers to see ‘real-time’ prices and get the profit that they want without those schemes,” the Vice Minister said.
He added that presently the ministry is working on a nationwide plan of the development of livestock breeding and Australia’s practices in terms of livestock exchange will definitely be useful.
Founder of Kaiyp Ata LLP Syrym Yertayev praised Australia for leading the way in terms of livestock breeding. He announced the plans to launch an analogue of a livestock exchange in Kazakhstan.
“We have a lot to learn [in terms of livestock breeding] from Australia. Kazakhstan has an untapped potential in that respect. Nowadays we export meat to Uzbekistan, the UAE and China and are planning to step up volumes of export,” he said.
