London Marathon death: Woman collapsed near finish line
Claire Squires, a hairdresser from North Kilworth, Leicestershire, collapsed near Birdcage Walk on the final stretch of the 26.2 mile course, Kazinform has learned from BBC.
On her Just Giving fundraising page she said she was running the race in aid of the Samaritans.
Paramedics attended to her but she died at the scene, organisers said.
She is yet to be formally identified and post-mortem tests will take place in the coming days to establish the cause of her death.
Tributes and donations
Many people have left tributes for Ms Squires on her fundraising page while hundreds of pounds in donations have poured in since Monday morning.
Fellow marathon runners are among those who have left messages and donations, taking the total money raised for the charity to more than £2,600.
A 22-year-old fitness instructor was the last competitor to die during the marathon in 2007.
Five of the 10 fatalities during the annual race were related to heart diseases.
A statement on the London Marathon website said: "We would like to emphasise that our immediate concern is for the family of the deceased. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with them at this difficult time."
It added that they would "not be releasing any further details of this tragic incident until next of kin have been notified and formal identification has taken place".
Competitors reach Birdcage Walk, bordering St James's Park, after completing 25 miles of the course, after which they pass Buckingham Palace before crossing the finish line on the Mall.
Up to 37,500 people took part in the 32nd London Marathon on Sunday.
