Mainland, Taiwan to hold forum on IT standards in February
BEIJING. February 11. KAZINFORM The Chinese mainland and Taiwan will hold a forum on information technology (IT) standards in southwest municipality of Chongqing from Feb. 26 to 27, a State Council Taiwan Affairs Office official announced here Wednesday.
Topics of the forum include audio video coding (AVS) standards, third-generation (3G) mobile technology, mobile memory, thin film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD), green power, light emitting diode (LED) and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), spokeswoman Fan Liqing said.
More than 300 entrepreneurs, professionals and scholars across the Taiwan Straits will attend the forum, Fan said. Mainland officials, including those from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, will also attend the forum. The forum, which has been held annually since 2005, is sponsored by the mainland-based China Communications Standards Association, the China Electronics Standardization Association and the Taiwan-based SINOCON Industrial Standards Foundation; Kazinform has learned from Xinhua.
Taiwan-invested companies have become an important part of mainland's IT industry. There are more than 3,300 Taiwan electronics and IT enterprises on the mainland, with a total investment of 36 billion U.S. dollars, according to the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office.
