Majilis approved amendments to decrease penalty quotas for exceeding greenhouse gases emissions

ASTANA . KAZINFORM -The lower chamber of the Kazakh Paliament approved the draft law "On Amendments to the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offences "in the second reading.

The amendments concern the article on exceeding quotas for greenhouse gas emissions and reducing fines for emissions. Article 243-1 of the Code will come into force from July 1, 2014. It is proposed to reduce the size of the penalty for exceeding the quotas for greenhouse gas emissions by 10 to five monthly calculation index per ton. As noted earlier, the adoption of the bill will exempt industrial enterprises from fines for 2013 which exceeded in the energy industry 208 billion, 30 billion in the oil and gas sector and those enterprises will not be fined in the first half of 2014.
