Majilis approves draft Law "On equal rights and equal opportunities of women and men"

ASTANA. November 17. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ The Kazakh Majilis has approved the draft Law "On equal rights and equal opportunities of women and men" at the plenary session.

Making a report, deputy Yelena Tarassenko noted that the draft Law was initiated by the group of the Parliament deputies in 2006 in the connection with that Kazakhstan undertook a number of international obligations in the field of ensuring equal rights and equal opportunities of women and men.

According to her, the draft Law sets main principles and norms, which touch upon creation of conditions for gender equality in all spheres of state and social life, and is a document implementing international standards in the sphere of human rights to the national legislation.
