Majilis chairman: MPs will contribute to strengthening cooperation b/w Kazakhstan and the Netherlands
Chairman of the Senate Ankie Broekers Knol has met with Majilis Speaker as well. During the conversation she expressed satisfaction with the high level of relations between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands. According to the Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Netherlands, democracy, economy and regional policy are the promising areas for cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the issues of global security. At the same time the chairman of the Majilis said that the policy of Nursultan Nazarbayev aims to promote social progress and global peace and security, development of friendly relations between the two states. Therefore K.Dzhakupov expressed hope that the Netherlands will support Kazakhstan's candidacy for non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2017-2018. A roundtable with the Minister of Economic Relations Henk Kamp reviewed strengthening economic cooperation between the countries. The two sides highly appreciated the level of partnership. To date, the Netherlands ranks first among investors in Kazakhstan as the volume of bilateral trade in 2014 exceeded $ 9 billion. Henk Kamp emphasized that good economic development of Kazakhstan is important for stability in the region. In turn, Kabibulla Dzhakupov proposed to use the potential of the Eurasian Economic Union which may contribute to the convergence of interests of the countries. The parties named oil and gas industry, energy, transport and communications as promising areas for collaboration. K.Dzhakupov informed that Kazakh MPs are preparing the legislative framework for the effective implementation of the five institutional reforms initiated by President of Kazakhstan. Henk Kamp has assured the Speaker of the Majilis to make every effort to strengthen the Kazakh-Dutch economic relations.
