Majilis delegation participated in 25th meeting of Asian parliamentarians

ASTANA. May 14. KAZINFORM Deputies of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament Aitkul Samakova, Darya Klebanova and Serik Ospanov took part in the 25th meeting of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development in Jakarta on May 2-3, Kazinform has learnt from the press service of the Kazakh MFA.

The event brought together representatives of 22 countries and was devoted to discussion of the issues of population and sustainable development of the countries in the context of food security. The meeting of the Asian parliamentarians was held in three sessions. The first session focused on the theme The 15th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD): achievements and challenges?. The second session discussed the issue of population and sustainable development within the ICPD in the context of food security. And the last one was devoted to the theme Synergizing the initiatives on healthcare in the context of the Millennium Development Goals?. Aitkul Samakova who is also the Vice Chairman of the AFPPD made report in the first session. She informed the attendees of the Kazakh Government?s policy in human population sphere and the anti-crisis measures launched in our country. Delivering a speech during the third session Deputy D. Klebanova told in details about the situation in protection of reproductive health of the population in Kazakhstan. Following the sessions a statement of the Asian parliamentarians was adopted. On May 4 the Kazakh delegation met with the leaders of the ruling party of Indonesia Golkar. During the meeting A. Samakova extended Yusuf Kalla, Chairman of the Party, an invitation from First Deputy Chairman of Nur Otan National Democratic Party Darkhan Kaletayev for participation in the 12th congress of Nur Otan scheduled for May 15 in Astana.
