Majilis OKs Kazakh-S Korean agr't on Balkhash thermal power plant construction

ASTANA. March 13. KAZINFORM The plenary session of the Majilis, the Lower Chamber of the Kazakh Parliament, passed the bill "On ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of South Korea in the sphere of development, financing, design, construction, exploitation and maintenance of the Balkhash thermal power plant".

According to Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev, "Balkhash thermal station" JSC, "Samruk Emergo" JSC (Kazakhstan) and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and Samsung Corporation (South Korea) are involved into the project. The agreement on the launch of the thermal power plant at Lake Balkhash was signed in Astana in August 2011.
