"The agreement was ratified in 2010. The national company of Kazakhstan "Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary" and French "Astrium SAS" signed two contract, one on establishment of the Earth remote sensing space systems and one on assembly-test complex for spacecraft totaling KZT 69.6 bln excluding VAT. When concluding the contracts the VAT was not taken into account and then it was decided to consider the issue regarding exemption from taxes. The final positive decision was made on June 30, 2014. During the visit of French President Francois Hollande on December 5, 2014, the protocol on amendments to the agreement was signed," head of the airspace committee of the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan Talgat Mussabayev said presenting the draft law.

According to him, the main goal of the protocol is exemption of the French side from taxes imposed on work and services rendered by the French party within the implementation of the projects on establishment of the Earth remote sensing space systems and one on assembly-test complex for spacecraft in Astana.
