Majilis ratifies agr't with Spain on transit of military equipment and personnel through Kazakhstan

  ASTANA. February 8. KAZINFORM /Murtbek Makulbekov/ The Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament approved a draft law "On ratification of the Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Spain on ensuring the transit of military equipment and personnel through the territory of Kazakhstan in connection with the participation of Spain in the international efforts to stabilize and restore the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan" at its Wednesday plenary sitting.

Deputy Foreign Minister Kairat Omarov, who introduced the bill, noted the agreement was signed on 2 July 2009 in Astana. The document is aimed at strengthening the role Kazakhstan in international efforts to stabilize and rehabilitate Afghanistan.

Omarov reminded that the similar agreements were earlier signed with the U.S., Germany, France.
