Majilis ratifies convention on rights of disabled people

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan approved a draft law "On ratification of the Convention on the rights of disabled people".

As the press service of the Majilis informs, the draft law is aimed at ensuring the people with disabilities have all the same rights and opportunities as all the other citizens of Kazakhstan. The main purpose of the draft law is to provide access to all the facilities and services in the important spheres for the people with disabilities and other categories of people, improve the mechanism of services rendering in the rehabilitation sphere, create the opportunities for this category of people for easy integration into society.

Presently, the convention has been ratified by 151 countries. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine are the only CIS countries to have ratified the convention.
