Major repairs of social facilities started in flood-hit Krymsk

KRASNODAR. July 29. KAZINFORM Work is underway in flood-hit Krymsk, the Krasnodar Territory, to do major repairs of social facilities, Itar-Tass reported.

Contracts with the appropriate organizations were concluded on Saturday, the press centre of the headquarters dealing with the flood consequences told Itar-Tass.

Almost 900 people participate in the work. Thirty four buildings are prepared for major repairs.

Krymsk was most severely hit by the flood on July 6-7.

The cleanup work also continued in the town on Saturday. Garbage is removed from the streets and yards. During the past day, almost 8,000 cubic metres of garbage was brought away.

Two hundred and forty four people remain in three temporary accommodation stations in Krymsk.

A total of 3,256 people are mobilized to deal with the flood consequences.

Gas supply is fully resumed to the Krymsk district, to all the 29,000 users. Gas is supplied also to social facilities -- schools, kindergartens and the hospital, the headquarters chief, First Vice-Governor Dzhambulat Khatuov, confirmed.

Electricity supply is also resumed in the area, as 183 transformer substations have started working. All the 215 apartment buildings have electricity. There are no problems with water either.

Electricity is supplied to the wastewater treatment facilities, which work as normal. The biological cleaning system has been started.

As for the other areas hit by the flood, work is also underway at social facilities in Gelendzhik, where electricity and water supply have resumed in full.

Repair work is continuing in Novorossiisk. Out of the 302 damaged apartment buildings, 300 are already repaired, and some repairs were done to 649 out of the 651 houses. The roads and bridges are under rapair. The rain collectors and the riverbeds are cleared.

A total of 10,160 people work in the flood-hit areas. They use 2,720 vehicles in the work.
