Majority of Kazakhstan’s employed population engage in trade

 9.1 million people were involved in different sectors of the economy in Kazakhstan following the third quarter of 2023, Kazinform News Agency cites the National Statistics Bureau.

The non-standard employment survey revealed that 9.1 million people, including 6.9 million employed and 2.2 million self-employed, were involved in different spheres of the economy in Kazakhstan in the 3rd quarter of this year.

The overall employment was up 134.5 thousand compared with 2022.

It was informed that the share of those employed in trade stood at 16.6%, in education - 12.8%, agriculture - 12.2%, and manufacturing – 12.1%.

Those with no employment (were not looking for jobs or ready to enter into the labor market) numbered 23 thousand.

31.2% of the country’s population over 15 were outside the labor force.
