Man who allegedly killed woman, her newborn faces life sentence
According to his words, April 7 Almaty police officers have detained a suspect in the murder of a child, whose body was found Feb. 25 in a dumpster in the city of Karaganda. It turned out that the 26-year-old detainee is the brother of the murdered child's father. The suspect confessed to the crime. According to investigators, the man first killed his 4-month-old niece, and then stabbed to death her mother. The woman's body had 11 stab wounds. According to preliminary version, the double murder was committed on the basis of family quarrels. The man had no job. The child was sick and irritated the suspect with constant crying. "Obviously, these were the reasons of the crime," said Mr.Omarbekov. The suspect was put into a temporary detention facility. Criminal case under Article 99 part 2 of the Criminal Code has been opened. It should be noted that the man faces up to 20 years or life in prison.
