Mass shooting in Sweden leaves 11 dead, suspect among the victims
At least 11 people were killed in a mass shooting at an adult education facility in Örebro, Sweden on Tuesday, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Authorities have described the incident as the worst mass shooting in the country’s history. Police confirmed that the suspected shooter is among the deceased, though the exact number of victims remains unclear at this time.
The shooting took place at Campus Risbergska, an adult education school that is located on the same campus as other educational facilities, including children's schools. The incident was reported to the police at 12:33 PM local time (4:33 PM Astana time). Officers arrived at the school, which has since been blocked off, and found several victims inside the complex.
According to Jonas Claesson, the regional health care director, six victims were transported to a local university hospital, five of whom had sustained gunshot wounds. Four of these patients underwent surgery, with two now reported to be in stable condition. However, police cautioned that the death toll may increase as the investigation progresses.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson called the attack a 'terrible act of violence’ in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).
“It is a very painful day for all of Sweden. My thoughts are also with all those whose normal school day was replaced with terror. Being confined to a classroom with fear for your own life is a nightmare that no one should have to experience,” Kristersson said, adding that “The government is in close contact with the Police Authority and is closely monitoring developments. The operation is still ongoing, and it is important that the public follow information from the police. My call is also to now give the police the peace of mind they need to investigate what happened and how these horrific crimes could have occurred.”

Police have cordoned off the school as they continue to search for additional victims and gather evidence. According to them, the perpetrator, a man who had never been identified by police before, acted alone and had no known ties to terrorist groups or gangs. The motive behind the shooting as well as the type of weapon used remains undisclosed.
In the latest updates, authorities confirmed the death toll from the incident had risen to 11 people. However, no further details were provided on the condition of the injured. The attack is being investigated as an aggravated weapons offense, attempted murder, and arson.
Earlier, Kazinform reported that Risbergska Skolan, located about 200 km west of Stockholm, primarily serves adults over 20 but also offers primary, secondary, and Swedish language courses for immigrants.
