Mass sports in the spotlight in North Kazakhstan region

A percentage of the population engaged in sports has reached 42%. This figure is expected to exceed 50% by the end of 2025, akim (governor) of the North Kazakhstan region, Gauez Nurmukhambetov highlighted at a briefing at the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency reports.

“To this end, two fitness centers, two indoor hockey courts and an indoor swimming pool with fitness equipment are being constructed in the region's districts. A football pitch in Petropavlovsk has been reconstructed under the Alan program, with a fifth-generation Italian-made artificial grass surface installed. The second stage of reconstruction of the Karasai stadium (Avangard Stadium) in accordance with UEFA standards is underway,” he said.

Gauez Nurmukhambetov also announced the opening of a modern table tennis center in Petropavlovsk that meets the highest standards. The center comprises a training hall with 24 tables. The venue is suitable for hosting national and international tournaments. A multifunctional sports and fitness complex has been commissioned in the Bereke microdistrict.
