Mazhilis approves amendments to legislation on intellectual property

ASTANA. February 25. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Mazhilis of the Kazakh Parliament approved the draft Law ?On amendments to some legislative acts of Kazakhstan on the issues of intellectual property? at the plenary session, Kazinform correspondent reports.

Kazakh Minister of Justice Zagipa Baliyeva presenting the draft law said that the amendments aimed at bringing the Law ?On Copyright and Related Rights? in accordance with the regulations of Bern Convention on protection of literature and fiction including emendation of inner contradictions. The adoption of amendments will let Kazakhstan join the Agreement on Trade Aspects of the intellectual property rights in case Kazakhstan?s joining the World Trade Organization. During the work over the draft law the deputies made a number of amendments. In particular, the norms concerning paragraphs 5 and 6 of new article 46-2 of the Law ?On Copyright and Related Rights? were left out as these norms can be reflected in subordinate acts.
