Mazhilis approves amendments to legislation on operational-investigative activity
ASTANA. January, 28. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Mazhilis of the Kazakh Parliament approved the draft law ?On amendments to some legislative acts of RK? at the plenary session, Kazinform correspondent reports.
As RK First Deputy Prosecutor General Iogan Merkel noted the draft law is aimed at further improvement of the legislation in the area of operational-investigative activity.
The proposed amendments provide for the possibility of holding special operational-investigative activities including phone-tapping, in prosecution of such crimes as propaganda and financing of terrorism, kidnapping and human traffic, theft and robbery, receiving and giving bribes, abuse of authority and power, economic and various other contraband.
During the work on the draft law the working group and the Mazhilis Committee on Legislation and Legal and Judicial Reform were asked to shorten the list of crimes of medium gravity from 182 up to 34 which may be covered by special operational search activities.
