Measles cases up in Kostanay

Over 520 measles cases have been recorded in Kostanay, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

As the sanitary epidemiological control department of Kostanay informed, adults account for 158 (30.3%) and children 364 (69.7%) of the total 522 measles cases reported in the city.

It was stated that almost 30% were infected because of refusal from vaccination, 55 were under the vaccination age, and 121 have their immunization status unknown.

According to the audit conducted by the city’s clinics, out of 946 children under 18 eligible for vaccination, 749 or 79.2% have received vaccines as part of additional immunization.

As planned, 34.2% of the total number of one-year olds and 36.7% of children aged 6 have been vaccinated against measles, mumps, and rubella.

Earlier, it was reported that a measles outbreak had been reported in North Kazakhstan region.
