Measles cases surging in Pavlodar region
56 new measles cases were recorded in Pavlodar region in less than two weeks with the most cases seen in Ekibastuz, Kazinform Agency reports.
Since the beginning of the year, there were confirmed 136 cases against five reported in 2022.
The situation is associated with the parental refusal to vaccinate their children against measles.
The rise in measles falls on November. Two weeks ago, there were recorded 80 cases. Now their number has grown by 1.7 times revealing 50 new cases more.
In the last 13 days, the region saw 82 suspected measles cases. 80% of them are among children under 14 years old. Two pregnant women also had measles.
10 out of 136 infected persons were vaccinated against measles.
Measles cases were registered in eight schools and 13 kindergartens. 30 kids are staying in the hospitals.
Since the start of the year Kazakhstan confirmed over 13,000 measles cases so far.
