Medvedev sends treaty on Eurasian Economic Commission for ratification

SCOW. November 18. KAZINFORM /Narymbek Ismagulov/ The future of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia will be determined by the process of formation of the Eurasian Economic Union. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev told a press conference after his meeting with Kazakh and Belarusian presidents on Friday.

"Today's meeting has a chance to become one of the key events of the year. By signing the Declaration of the Eurasian Economic Integration and the treaty on the Eurasian Economic Commission our countries made ​​another very powerful step towards the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union, which undoubtedly will determine the future of our countries," Medvedev said.

The Russian leader expressed gratitude to Nursultan Nazarbayev, who initiated this idea in the very difficult 1990s. He also thanked all the partners in the three governments.

Medvedev noted that since 1 January 2012 Eurasian Economic Commission will start its work. By the end of 2011 the three countries will make every effort to ratify the agreements signed today.

In the presence of his colleagues Dmitry Medvedev sent to the State Duma for ratification the treaty on the Eurasian Economic Commission.
