Memo of understanding endorsed b/w Astana and Kursk rgn

ASTANA. September 18. KAZINFORM - Akim of Astana Imangali Tasmagambetov and the governor of Kursk Oblast of the Russian Federation Alexander Mikhailov have put their signatures on the letter of intent between the akimat of the capital of Kazakhstan and the administration of the Kursk region. The signing ceremony was held in the building of Astana akimat .

The document is aimed at development and expansion of cooperation in trade-economic, scientific-technical, humanitarian and cultural spheres on the basis of equal partnership, trust and mutual benefit.

"We've only just had a very big meeting and discussed a wide range of issues on economic, cultural and humanitarian collaboration between Astana and Kursk region. It has been a very interesting and detailed debate. We have signed a letter of intent. Delegation of Kursk region came here with extensive information. As you know, Kursk region is developing rapidly, it has a lot of potential in the industrial and agro-industrial complex. Given the fact that Astana is a young capital under construction we are very much interested in output produced in the Kursk region", said Mr.Tasmagambetov.

The participants of the protocol have also expressed interest in expanding partnership between educational institutions of the two regions, development of cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, tourism and youth policy, including through visits of creative teams, sporting and youth activities.

The Delegation of the Kursk region is in Astana on an official visit from 17 to 19 September. It consists of about 40 people, including the heads of government agencies and large industrial and agricultural enterprises of the region, culture, science and education, and media representatives.
