Methane exploration project launched in Karaganda region
JSC Saryarka in response to the instructions given by Head of State is implementing a project for exploration and production of methane in Karaganda coal basin. The agreement has been signed between JSC "KazTransGas" and SEC on cooperation," the statement reads. The document was inked by the Board chairman of JSC "Saryarka NC" Margulan Karibekov and Board chairman of JSC "KazTransGas" Kairat Sharipbayev. It is noted that the joint implementation of the project will solve the problem of Astana city and Karaganda region gasification. In addition the project will contribute to the solution of a number of socio-economic issues. According to preliminary data, probable reserves of methane in Sherubaynurinskiy coal-bearing area is about 50 billion cubic meters. It is expected that this volume of methane will be able to provide the capital and Karaganda region with gas for 20 years. According to the SEC, exploration work will be carried out in 2015-2017. Then, in the case of a positive result there will be started work on methane production. Socio-Entrepreneurial Corporation "Saryarka" is a national company established in the form of a joint stock company aimed at promoting economic development of Karaganda region by consolidating public and private sectors.
