Minister of Defense met reps of military-diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan
ASTANA. February 12. KAZINFORM /Narymbek Ismagulov/ Today in Astana Minister of Defense Daniyal Akhmetov has had a meeting with the representatives of the military-diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan, Kazinform reports.
The meeting was devoted to summing up the results of 2008. Besides, the representatives of foreign countries were informed of realization of the plans on transforming the Kazakhstan Armed Forces and cooperation within the international and regional organizations.
The participants noted that the number of joint military exercises increased up to 38 including those held on the territory of Kazakhstan like ?Interaction?, ?Centre?, ?Steppe Eagle?, ?Aldaspan? and ?Shield?.
The country takes measures on equipment of the Armed Forces with the best modern military technique and precision weapons.
According to the Minister, one of the key peculiarities of interaction of Kazakhstan on the international arena is its multi-vector policy. ?We actively work both in multilateral and bilateral formats. Kazakhstan cooperates with the Russian Federation and other CSTO member countries. In particular, Kazakhstan will receive new air defense systems - S-300 missile system ? in the nearest future.
?We also work actively with the NATO. And we will continue our interaction within the current programs. We hope this direction will be strengthened in future?, the Head of the Ministry said.
