Minister of Internal Affairs urges Parliament deputies to support draft law on obligatory drug testing of students

ASTANA. January, 29. KAZINFORM /Kurmat Samarkhan/ Voluntary drug testing of 8 thousand school and university students of the capital took place in the context of ?Astana – the city without drugs? program according to which it was found out that 3% of teenagers use drugs. Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Baurzhan Mukanov informed of it at the enlarged Board of the Ministry, Kazinform reports.

?We are sure that it is necessary to develop the institute of school inspectors to protect teenagers from drug addiction as well as prevent thefts and other crimes at schools. At present there are over 1400 inspectors and they should be in all urban and large rural schools. Teachers and directors support us in this issue?, the head of the Ministry noted. According to B. Mukhamedzhanov the Ministry together with the Ministry of Education and Science has held a meeting with the participation of all school inspectors and directors. ?A number of measures on improvement of joint work of school administration and inspectors were developed and topical issues were discussed. The same meetings were held in all regions?, he added.
