Ministerial meeting of Middle East Four to be held in mid-April
On March 10, special envoys of the four international mediators (Russia, the United States, the United Nations, and the European Union) had separate meetings with Palestine's and Israel's chief negotiators, Saib Arikat and Isaac Molho, respectively in East Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Russia was represented by a Russian Foreign Ministry envoy, ambassador at large Sergei Yakovlev.
"The consultations were held in line with an agreement reached at the ministerial meeting of the Middle East Four in Munich on February 5," a Russian Foreign Ministry noted. "These consultations make it possible to scrutinize the positions of the parties on the resumption of talks on all settlement aspects, including problems of the borders and security."
"The quartet's special envoys will continue contacts with the parties as part of work to prepare a quartet ministerial meeting, which is planned for mid-April," the spokesman said.
