Minsk negotiating with Moscow on refinancing of state debt
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Belarus is negotiating with Russia on restructuring or refinancing public debt, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in an interview with Bloomberg news agency, RIA Novosti reported.
In 2014 Russia's financial support towards Belarus amounted to $2 billion. In March 2015 Minsk and Moscow signed an agreement to grant Belarus a state loan in Russian roubles equivalent of $ 110 million. "We are negotiating with Russia to refinance the debt. I think we will manage it," said Mr.Lukashenko. Belarusian President noted that this year Belarus will delay or refinance the internal debt. At the same time, he noted that even without the refinancing or restructuring of the state debt Belarus will be able to meet its financial obligations. Mr.Lukashenko informed that, this year in any case Belarus will manage to pay back $2.5-3 billion.
