Modern cultural facility to be built in Semey
In Semey, a modern cultural facility is set to be built, Nurlan Urankhayev, governor of Abai region, said, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
Speaking at a press conference Thursday, Urankhayev said the one and only theatre of the administrative center of the region hosts three collectives, hindering theatrical art to develop further amid the growing demand for theatrical performances among the population.
Therefore, a modern cultural facility on the left bank of the city is set to be built in the future, said the governor of Abai region.
According to the city’s administration office, the facility is to be called Congress Hall, addressing the issue of accommodation of three collectives – the Abai Kazakh Musical Drama Theatre, Dostoyevsky Russian Drama Theatre, Dariga-ai Youth Theatre – in one building, which is the architectural monument.
Abai region is home to 423 history and culture monuments, including 67 in the city of Semey.
