More deaths from cholera outbreak in Haiti
BUENOS AIRES. November 18. KAZINFORM The death toll from Haiti's cholera epidemic has topped 1,100 people, the Caribbean's country health ministry said, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
At least 1,110 people have died and 18,380 have been hospitalized since the disease broke out about four weeks ago, the statement on the ministry's website said on Thursday.
Seven of the 10 provinces of the country are affected, as the disease continues to spread around the disaster-stricken island nation.
Haiti is still struggling to cope with the aftermath of the January 12 earthquake that killed over 250,000 people.
In addition, Hurricane Tomas brought torrential rains to the island earlier this month, claiming 20 lives and destroying a network of supplies of potable water.
Up to 1.3 million Haitians are still living in temporary tent camps with poor hygiene conditions, Kazinform cites RIA Novosti. See www.en.rian.ru
