More than 16 mln filled out census forms

ASTANA. March 10. KAZINFORM /Kurmat Samarkhan/ 16, 304, 840 Kazakhstanis have filled out census forms within 10 days, Chairman of Kazakhstan Statistics Agency Anar Meshimbayeva said in the briefing today, Kazinform reports. According to the Agency, the population in 1999 was 14, 925, 000 people.

The population count was carried through from February 25 till March 6. ?But it is not over yet. The preliminary results will be checked during the control census. Besides, Almaty and Astana have not recorded all the citizens?. Five ministries and departments (MIA, National Security Agency, Ministry of Emergencies, Ministry of Defense, Committee of Criminal-Executive Service of the Ministry of Justice) will provide the Agency with results of the census till March 16. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also count all the Kazakhstanis living abroad till March 31. ?These are primarily the employees of embassies, consulates, students and Kazakhstan citizens living there?, A. Meshimbayeva said.
