More than 20 dead, dozens injured in shootings in Maine

At least 22 people were killed and as many as 60 injured Wednesday night in shootings at several locations in Maine in the northeastern United States, Kyodo reported citing local media.

Police are searching for a suspect who remains at large and have urged local residents to remain indoors.

The local sheriff's office released photos of a man with a rifle who is allegedly connected to the shootings, according to NBC News.

The shootings occurred in Lewiston, about 30 miles north of Portland, with a local medical center saying it was responding to a "mass casualty" event, NBC News reported.
