Musk reveals his potential role in Trump’s administration

Elon Musk, the renowned entrepreneur behind Tesla and SpaceX, recently announced his intent to streamline the federal government by downsizing the number of federal agencies, contingent upon Donald Trump’s presidential victory and Musk’s potential appointment within his administration, reports a Kazinform News Agency correspondent.

Musk made this statement during an appearance on Tucker Carlson’s online show, broadcasting from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on Election Day.

Musk’s support for Trump goes beyond a simple endorsement, expressing a desire to improve government efficiency. Musk noted the excessive layers of bureaucracy and regulation, stating, “We have a giant bureaucracy, we have excessive regulation. We need to let America’s builders build.” This sentiment echoes Musk’s broader vision of a leaner, more agile federal structure that better supports the nation’s productivity and growth.

According to Trump, Musk would potentially head a newly formed commission focused on government efficiency. This proposed commission would conduct a comprehensive “financial and operational audit of the entire federal government” with the aim of identifying and eliminating “fraud and improper payments”. Musk has outlined an ambitious target to reduce federal spending by $2 trillion, highlighting his dedication to significant budgetary reform.

Musk’s support for Trump’s campaign has not only been ideological but financial as well. He has openly endorsed Trump, attended campaign rallies, and played a significant financial role in supporting Trump’s election efforts. According to Forbes, Musk’s net worth is estimated at $264.7 billion, which has allowed him to make substantial contributions, totaling more than $130 million to Trump’s campaign this year alone. Trump’s public appreciation of Musk was evident in his victory speech, where he described Musk as a “super genius,” commending his accomplishments with SpaceX, particularly in satellite internet and rocketry.

Their collaboration suggests that Musk will wield substantial influence in a potential second Trump term. Although neither Trump nor Musk has confirmed an official government role for Musk, they both appear aligned on the goals of cost-cutting and efficiency. Trump jokingly referred to Musk as the “Secretary of Cost-Cutting,” while Musk embraced the unofficial title, stating that his efforts could be housed under a “Department of Government Efficiency” abbreviated as D.O.G.E., a playful nod to his fondness for Dogecoin.

Despite this partnership, Musk is not interested in a formal Cabinet position. He has clarified, “No pay, no title, no recognition is needed,” emphasizing that his contributions would be based solely on his desire to see change. This outlook aligns with Musk’s vision of influencing policy without the confines of a traditional government role. Moreover, Musk has expressed his commitment to continuing his political engagement beyond this election. He has established a super America PAC (political action committee), which he plans to utilize to prepare for midterm elections and other races in the future.

In a recent interview on the “Joe Rogan Experience” Musk further outlined his vision for regulatory reform. He expressed a desire to “curtail [federal] agencies to be much smaller” and to ensure that they “stick to what Congress authorized instead of all this other stuff.” Musk added that if any essential functions were mistakenly eliminated, “we can put it right back.”
