N Kazakhstan records over 3,600 flu cases in a week
3,655 flu cases were recorded in North Kazakhstan last week that is 8% more compared to the previous week, Kazinform News Agency reports.
65% or 2,402 cases were detected in children under 14 years old, the sanitary and epidemiological control department said in a statement.
Doctors said vaccination is the only efficient way to prevent flu spread. 60,000 flu shots were bought for free vaccination of at-risk groups. The vaccine develops an immune response to protect from flu for around a year.
No coronavirus cases were detected in the region in May - July this year. Since the beginning of the year 54 COVID cases were recorded in the region with five cases confirmed in August.
By districts, the most cases or 46% were reported in the city of Petropavlovsk, 13% in Zhumabayev district, and 7% in Mamlyutka district.
