N Kazakhstan region sees rise in TB cases and deaths
North Kazakhstan region has registered 175 new cases of tuberculosis since the beginning of the year. The figure has risen from 154 in 2022, Kazinform Agency reports.
According to Kumar Kussemissov, head of the healthcare department of the region, the growth in TB cases demonstrates improvement in the detection of tuberculosis.
Noting the steady reduction in TB cases in previous years, Kussemissov pointed out that there has been the sharp fall in TB cases, as many left missed. “The region is provided with 40 X-ray equipment units, including 13 mobile ones. 270,976 people making up 82.5% of the yearly plan have been examined. 145 TB cases have been revealed by the method of fluorography,” he said.
The region has so far reported 13 deaths caused by TB, a 9% rise than in 2022. There has been 61 repeat TB cases in the region.
