N. Nazarbayev: Agreement between EU and EEU on free trade zone could be extremely beneficial

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Signing of the agreement between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union on establishment of the free trade zone would be extremely beneficial for both sides, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev told at the 8th Astana Economic Forum.

"40 countries have already expressed their interest in establishing free trade zones with the Eurasian Economic Union. Signing of the agreement on establishment of the free trade zone between the European Union and the Eurasian Union would be really beneficial for both sides. I think sooner or later we are going to do it because it is good for all sides. However, we do not have to rest while having so much work to do," N. Nazarbayev told.

In this regard, the President proposed building a high-speed transport corridor - Eurasian transcontinental corridor. According to him, the corridor could help to easily transport goods from Asia to Europe and back.

"Joint initiatives in the sphere of transport serve as a good platform for cooperation. This project on building the Eurasian transcontinental corridor would give an impetus for deep cooperation and regional integration," N. Nazarbayev stressed.
